David Wayne Gour

David Wayne Gour, a cherished Father and Grandfather, made his final transition to be with his loving wife in Heaven after a courageous battle with bladder cancer and passing of heart attack after surgery on Monday, September 9th, 2024, at the age of 84 in Tyler, Texas.

Born on April 19th, 1940, to Flois and Mammie Gour, David spent the majority of his life in the Bullard and Lake Palestine areas, where he enjoyed countless lake-filled days.

David married Mary Lackey Gour in 1961, together they raised five children and celebrated 53 years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary, as well as his two eldest sons, Willis and Jerry Gour, his grandson Dakoda Lane Gour. His parents Flois Herman Gour and Mammie Gour, and his siblings; Phillip Gour, June Gour Cecil and Valeria McElroy.

David is survived by his three children: Tonya Green of Bullard, Gregory Gour of Bullard, and Rhonda McDonald and husband James of Wilmington, North Carolina. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Krystle and Wes Akin, Samuel and Jodye Green, Steven Gour, Breeahnna McDonald, Jayden and Sevhen Johnson, Mary- Faith Gour and four great-grandchildren: Alexandria and Shelby Akin, Jansen and Jax Green. Plus his loyal garden dogs, HoneyBun and Ms Zoey.

David retired from Tyler Pipe after 42 of dedicated service, starting there as a young adult. David had a deep passion for fishing, often spending time with his family at his lake lot overlooking the sunsets at Lake Palestine. He also loved working his large garden, a tradition he cherished since childhood. Known for his impressive vegetables, he took great pride in both the preparation and the harvest of his garden. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly and spent many of days fixing up bicycles to go on rides with them. David was well-loved for his friendly nature, making friends wherever he went and finding joy in long conversations and laughter with those around him. The red dirt of Bullard provided for his family and friends for years, and we hope that you think of him when you see a garden brimming with vegetables in the summer.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Boren-Conner Funeral Home, 550 S Dr M Roper Pkwy, Bullard, Texas. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Boren-Conner Funeral Home in Bullard on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 10:00 AM.
