Judy Lane Boatman of Lindale went home to glory with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the age of 80. Judy died as peacefully as she lived, with her family close by. Although she had lived many years since his passing, she never stopped being Johnnie Boatman’s wife. She never stopped thinking of that as her most proud accomplishment, second only to becoming a Born-Again Christian. Together, Johnnie and Judy created two children, played and sang gospel music together, joined Bethel Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, Texas and became grandparents. Of Johnnie and Judy’s son, Brian, was born their grandson, Luc Boatman (Tamara).  Never one to pressure their daughter for grandchildren, they were content with their grand-cats that their daughter chose to raise. 

Because being a traditional wife was what she most desired, although earning a college scholarship which would have allowed her to go on and study sports journalism, after her high school graduation in 1962, she became a wife, and later a mother. 

Judy is survived by one son, Brian Boatman (Marlene) and one daughter, MaryAnn Boatman Dickson (Lynn). She has two siblings still living, Rita Cotte and her youngest brother, Rocky Lane, Sr. 

Upon arrival in Heaven, she was met by her husband of 42 years, Johnnie Dean Boatman, her stepson, Michael Boatman, and her two brothers, J.D. Lane and Earl Lane. Her mother and grandparents were also there to meet her, as she entered the gates of Heaven. Judy was a much-loved wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter and aunt to all of her family members. 

Services for Judy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Boren-Conner Funeral Home, 550 S. Dr. M. Roper Parkway (Hwy 69) in Bullard, Texas. Interment to follow at Larissa Cemetery, Bullard, Texas. A family visitation will be held one hour before the service. 

We would like to thank The Hospice of East Texas, Home Place, staff. Words cannot express how grateful we are for the kind and loving care that was given to our mother in her final days. Thank you for the peace and comfort that you gave us, as we said goodbye. 

Although Judy loved fresh flowers, almost to a fault, it’s at this time that we’d ask that if you were to honor Judy with living plants or flowers, that you instead, have a tree planted in Israel, in her name. For less than the price of a small bouquet, a tree can be planted in Jerusalem through the organization listed below.
